One of the 'hippiest' things I've done so far has to be my transition to using a natural deodorant. What initially convinced me to make the switch was noticing how irritated my armpits have become after years of normal deodorant wear. I began to research to find more about deodorant and what I was actually putting on to my body.
It turned out that not only are the chemicals in typical deodorant are prone to making your skin irritated , but they're also harmful for the environment and are associated with increasing certain health risks, such as breast cancer.
With that said, I tried a few natural deodorant alternative. The first was from Tom's. However I don't know if it was the fact that I was transitioning to using natural deodorant, but I constantly smelled like lavender + B.O. (sorry that didn't work for ya homegirl). And then I tried this DIY trick of using natural toothpaste instead... BUT THAT WAS A MAJOR FAIL.
But everything changed when I found deodorant cream from Meow Meow Tweet.
There is so much that I can say about this zero-waste company, I think I will have to write about them another time. But using their natural deodorant has been a dream.
Meow Meow Tweet have a wide variety of natural deodorants to choose from. Their deodorants can come in stick or cream form, baking soda free, and fresh natural scents. They even offers a mini size of their deodorant just incase you are hesitant and just want to try things out. And since I was skeptical from my last natural deodorant experience, I decided to try out their mini cream deodorant in their lavender scent.
I got to tell ya, I'm in love.
Applying the deodorant was way easier than it seemed. All you need is a pea-size of their cream and gently rub onto your armpits. Tbh I thought that would be gross, but it shouldn't be if your armpits are clean . Also the cream blends very well into my skin and doesn't leave a residue. All you are left with is it's natural scent.
I smell pretty dang fresh the majority of the day. They did just release an underarm primer to use so that the deodorant lasts longer. However with the mini compact size, I can just keep it in my purse and reapply when needed.
The only thing I have against it is that it does not prevent me from sweating. Which I sweat a lot so that can be a problem. But, like they say on their site, sweat is natural and healthy so I don't mind too much. All I really care is that the smell is gone and I don't have to worry.
Have you ever used Meow Meow Tweet's Deodorant before? Do you know of any other natural deodorants that you love? Let me know and comment below. I want to hear from you.
